Overview

Copy Unlock is a Chrome browser extension that removes copy restrictions on web pages, restoring text selection and right-click functionality. We are committed to protecting your privacy.

Copy Unlock's core features make zero external network requests. All data stays on your device. The optional Pro upgrade uses LemonSqueezy for payment processing and license validation.

Data Collection

Copy Unlock stores the following data locally on your device only:

Whitelist: Hostnames of websites you choose to auto-unlock (e.g., "example.com")
Settings: Your extension preferences (auto-unlock toggle)
Statistics: Aggregate unlock counts (total unlocks, unique sites count, install date)
License data: If you upgrade to Pro, your license key and a device identifier are stored locally

Data Transmitted to External Servers

The extension communicates with api.lemonsqueezy.com solely to validate, activate, or deactivate your Pro license key. Only the license key and a device identifier are transmitted. No personal information, browsing data, or page content is ever sent.

Data Usage

We use the locally stored data solely for:

Providing the core functionality of the extension (unlocking copy restrictions)
Automatically remembering websites where you activate the extension, so they unlock on future visits
Displaying usage statistics within the extension popup
Validating your Pro license status (if applicable)

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal data with third parties.

Data Storage

All data is stored using Chrome's built-in storage API (chrome.storage.local)
Per-tab session state uses chrome.storage.session (cleared when browser closes)
No data is stored on our external servers
No cookies or tracking mechanisms are used

Permissions

This extension requires the following permissions:

activeTab: To access the current page when you click the extension icon
tabs: To detect page navigation and automatically unlock whitelisted websites
scripting: To inject unlock scripts into the current page when activated
storage: To save your whitelist, settings, and statistics locally
contextMenus: To provide a right-click menu option on the extension icon
alarms: To periodically check subscription status for Pro users (handles expiry and refund)
host_permissions (<all_urls>): Required for automatically injecting unlock scripts on whitelisted websites during page load. This permission is only used for sites you have previously activated the extension on.

Third-Party Services

LemonSqueezy: Used solely for processing Pro upgrade payments. When you choose to upgrade, the extension opens a LemonSqueezy hosted checkout page. The extension validates your license key via the LemonSqueezy License API (api.lemonsqueezy.com). We do not operate any payment servers ourselves.

Children's Privacy

This extension does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13.

Your Rights

You can delete all stored data at any time by removing this extension from Chrome.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
