Overview

Privacy Screenshot is a Chrome browser extension that helps you blur sensitive information in images before sharing. We are committed to protecting your privacy.

Data Collection

Privacy Screenshot does not collect any personal data.

The following data is stored locally on your device only:

• Settings: Your extension preferences (blur intensity, default mode)
• Daily usage count: Number of blur operations performed today (resets daily)
• Statistics: Aggregate counts (total images processed, total blur regions, install date)
• Blur templates: Saved blur region positions for reuse across images (Pro feature)
• License status: Pro license activation status and validation cache

Data Transmitted to External Servers

Privacy Screenshot makes minimal external network requests:

• Pro license validation: When a Pro license key is activated, the extension contacts api.lemonsqueezy.com to verify the license status. This occurs at activation and periodically (every 6 hours) thereafter. Only the license key is transmitted — no personal data, images, or browsing information is sent.
• Free users: Zero network requests. No external communication of any kind.

All image processing happens entirely on your device using the browser's built-in Canvas API.

Image Processing

All images are processed locally using the HTML5 Canvas API:

• Images are never uploaded to any server
• Processed images exist only in your browser's memory
• Images are discarded when you close the editor tab
• Screenshots are temporarily stored in chrome.storage.session (cleared when the browser closes)

Data Usage

We use the locally stored data solely for:

• Tracking daily blur usage against the free tier limit (15/day)
• Displaying usage statistics within the extension editor
• Remembering your preferences

Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share any data with third parties.

Data Storage

• All data is stored using Chrome's built-in storage API (chrome.storage.local)
• Session data uses chrome.storage.session (cleared when browser closes)
• No data is stored on external servers
• No cookies or tracking mechanisms are used

Permissions

This extension requires only three permissions:

• activeTab: To capture a screenshot of the current page when you click the extension icon
• storage: To save your settings, daily usage count, blur templates, and license status locally
• alarms: To schedule periodic Pro license validation (every 6 hours, Pro users only)

No other permissions are requested. We do not access your browsing history, bookmarks, or any other browser data.

Children's Privacy

This extension does not knowingly collect any personal information from children under 13.

Your Rights

You can delete all stored data at any time by removing this extension from Chrome.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date.
